An 83-year-old man has been found guilty of possessing child sexual abuse material.
At Newport Magistrates’ Court, Roy Robertson, from Larch Grove in Caerphilly, admitted two charges of creating indecent images of a child.
The prosecution, led by Lucy Goodridge, told the court the man possessed one category A image, which carries the most severe classification, along with two category B images.
The offences occurred between February 18, 2025 and October 8, 2025.
Robertson, who was defended by James Lynch, had no prior convictions and is the only person caring for his sick wife.
The man received a six-month prison sentence, which was suspended for 12 months.
He must also undertake a 10-day rehabilitation activity and pay a £154 surcharge plus £85 in costs.
Robertson will be required to sign the sex offenders register for seven years and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order until 2033.
