Hikers left speechless by forgotten car perched on mountain slope

Published on

Remarkable images have surfaced showing a vehicle left on a mountain in Gwent.

Residents walking their dogs were baffled to find a Toyota Aygo deserted on the upper reaches of Mynydd Maen, the 472-metre ridge that towers above Cwmbran and Pontypool.

The vehicle appears to have been taken across the uneven landscape before tumbling down the incline.

Neighbours remain perplexed, questioning how a compact car came to rest in such an improbable position and whether it had been stolen.

One witness recounted that a message had been left stating the driver would return shortly. The spot seemed entirely unsuitable for a car to have arrived at this location, suggesting it had been driven there deliberately.

Local responses to the abandoned vehicle have been vocal.

Tricia Lorraine RM observed that the driver seemed to have attempted the journey in a very small vehicle and questioned whether it had been reported as stolen following its arrival at the site.

Kelley Elizabeth commented that the situation was absurd.

The location was certainly an unusual place to have driven a vehicle.
