Representatives from law enforcement, healthcare, and transportation gathered at the Wellcome Collection to celebrate the release of The Road Safety Trust’s impact report.

Lilian Greenwood MP, who serves as parliamentary under-secretary of state with responsibility for local transport, noted that numerous research initiatives and pilot schemes supported by the trust contributed to establishing the evidence foundation for the government’s recently published Road Safety Strategy, the first such national strategy for more than ten years.

The organisation has dedicated a decade to demonstrating the effectiveness of partnership-based, research-informed initiatives, and this depth of knowledge and dedication will prove essential as they advance their intensified commitment to creating safer roads throughout Britain.

Ruth Cadbury MP, who chairs the Transport Select Committee, gave the main speech and addressed how Parliament would oversee the Road Safety Strategy, which was released in January.

Paul Steinberg, who holds the position of deputy chief executive at The Road Safety Trust, observed that the event demonstrated the potential that emerges when diverse stakeholders including police officers, government officials, academics, industry professionals, and practitioners unite with a shared goal of reducing fatalities and severe injuries on roads.

Participants examined various subjects, spanning enhancements to emergency medical response through the integration of data systems and innovative road signage specifically developed to enhance safety for motorcyclists.

The publication documents achievements made over ten years and outlines objectives for improving road safety throughout the United Kingdom going forward.
