With April just around the corner, we delved into the South Wales Argus archives to bring you 10 images we published showcasing sporting accomplishments from late March and early April 2006.

This is your chance to revisit some memorable sporting moments.

Our collection includes features on a Cwmbran Paralympic swimmer making a comeback, a teenager ranked sixth fastest in Britain for the 200 metres, Gwent trampoline performers enjoying victories, and match footage from Newport County and Caldicot rugby club.

The images captured include Ian Hillier of Newport celebrating prematurely before his goal was ruled out during the fixture between Newport County and Sutton United on April 1, 2006. Another shows Jason Bowen and Craig Hughes celebrating after Bowen scored for Newport in that same match.

A photograph from April 2006 features members of the Usk Valley Trampoline Club including Alison Macleod, Jessica Purnell, Laurie-Anne Seignot, Lauren Davies, Rebecca Litt, Rhiannan Hutchings, Katie Rodger and Natalie Brandon.

Jane Perkins and Janet McDonald were pictured after claiming victory in a knockout competition at a sports driving event held at the David Broome Event Centre in Crick on April 3, 2006.

Gareth Duke, a Paralympic competitor from Cwmbran, returned to the swimming pool on March 30, 2006 following a kidney transplant.

On the rugby pitch, Adam Pegler and Damien Attwell from Abertillery were both seen attempting to breach the Caldicot defence during matches on April 1, 2006.

Stephanie Kinsey, a 12-year-old student at Caldicot Comprehensive School from Undy, was ranked sixth in the United Kingdom for the 200 metres in early April 2006.

The girls’ football team from Caldicot School was photographed on April 3, 2006, while Wasps rider Chris Schram was captured winning heat 10 during a fixture against Mildenhall on April 2, 2006.
