SUMMARY OF MAGISTRATES’ COURT CASES

Magistrates in the area have recently dealt with several traffic-related offences.

Anna Cook, who is 51 years old and resides on Orb Drive in Newport, was ordered to pay a total of £176 comprising a financial penalty, associated costs and an additional surcharge after acknowledging responsibility for disregarding red and green arrow and lane closure signals.

Three penalty points were added to her driving licence.

Carl Miller, aged 46 and living at Bishpool Grove in Newport, received a bill for £523.34 which includes a fine, costs and outstanding duty after admitting responsibility for operating or possessing a vehicle without complying with an off-road notification requirement.

Jack Ponting, 19 years old from Caernarvon Crescent in Llanyravon, Cwmbran, was ordered to pay £220 as a penalty together with £85 in costs and £4.34 in back duty for retaining a vehicle without proper licensing.

Louise Chapman, who lives on Railway Terrace in Blaina, must pay £408 including a financial penalty, costs and a surcharge for possessing a motor vehicle that lacked proper insurance cover.

Andrew Paul Mizon, 64, from Dorset Crescent in Newport, was directed to pay £253 encompassing a penalty, costs and a surcharge after accepting guilt for ignoring red and green arrow and lane closure traffic signals.

His driving licence received three penalty points.

Shane Jennings, 46, of Southlands in Blaina, was required to pay £408 in total comprising a financial penalty, costs and a surcharge for possessing an uninsured motor vehicle.

Gavin Lewis, 41 years old and residing on Aberthaw Road in Newport, must pay £310 which includes a fine, costs and outstanding duty for using a vehicle without valid documentation.

Gethin Lear, aged 34 and living at Foundry Cottages in Griffithstown, Pontypool, was ordered to pay £214 including a financial penalty, costs and a surcharge after admitting to driving at excess speed in a zone restricted to 20mph.

Three penalty points were recorded on his driving record.

Gwyn Davies, 75, from Diamond Close in Energlyn, Caerphilly, was required to pay £129 comprising a fine and a surcharge after pleading guilty to travelling above the speed limit in a 20mph area.

His driving record was endorsed with three penalty points.
