Microcation trend transforms travel culture

Published on

The growing popularity of the microcation is transforming how Britons approach travel.

Brief, unplanned escapes of fewer than five nights are gaining momentum, with numerous holidaymakers choosing nearby destinations over extended conventional trips.

Celtic Manor Resort, famed for staging the Ryder Cup, is one establishment championing this microcation concept as an ideal solution for maximising a brief Easter break.

Jenna Carr, writer of the family travel guide Yes You Can Travel With Kids, explained that travellers should maximise their limited time by steering clear of extended journeys. She recommended selecting locations within two to three hours of where they live, noting that reduced travel duration means more opportunities to savour the actual break. The travel expert also suggested preparing in advance, even for shorter stays. She pointed out that with only a handful of days available, modest preparation yields significant benefits, and advised researching a small selection of activities prior to arrival to prevent wasting valuable time on decision-making.

Celtic Manor provides an array of experiences encompassing spa sessions, restaurants, and family-friendly pursuits such as high ropes courses, forest net structures, and axe throwing facilities.

The resort operates under a travel ethos called Welcome to Feel Good, centred on enabling visitors to unwind, re-establish connections, and reduce pace without undertaking lengthy journeys.

Carr further recommended that holidaymakers view microcations as genuine vacations. She stressed that despite the brevity of such trips, the secret to satisfaction lies in disconnecting fully, suggesting visitors refrain from monitoring work correspondence or cramming too many tasks into their stay.

Those wishing to indulge during an Easter escape at Celtic Manor can select from various accommodations listed on the resort’s website.
