Monmouthshire Housing Association has finalised the acquisition of 46 tenanted dwellings in Caldicot from Muir Housing Group.

The homes, situated in the Cas Troggy and Sandy Lane districts, changed hands on March 23 as part of Muir’s programme to streamline its property portfolio.

The transfer comprises 35 socially rented residences and 11 leasehold properties, along with grounds maintenance duties for 47 freehold households.

Gwyndaf Tobias, chief executive of MHA, stated that the organisation was pleased to obtain these properties, strengthening its ongoing dedication to investment in Monmouthshire and substantially increasing its housing portfolio in the popular town of Caldicot.

Mr Tobias explained that the goal was for every occupant to feel assured that their landlord operated locally, was approachable and truly focused on prioritising their requirements when making decisions.

MHA’s neighbourhoods and income departments would be visiting residents in the area over the coming weeks to discuss services and respond to any queries.

MHA was chosen as the preferred landlord after a Quality First evaluation conducted by property experts Savills, which acknowledged the association’s robust local footprint, resident satisfaction levels, and impressive ratings for governance and financial stability.

The association has additionally secured the top tier rating of green for governance and viability from the Welsh regulatory body.

Ahead of the transfer, consultation sessions were organised to facilitate an orderly handover and address issues raised by occupants.

Monmouthshire Housing Association currently holds 4,300 properties throughout Monmouthshire, Newport, and Torfaen, with plans to grow its portfolio to 5,000 homes by 2030.
