The home improvement retailer Wickes has unveiled strategies to launch 70 additional outlets, which will generate approximately 2,000 employment opportunities across Britain.

The company disclosed its yearly financial results recently and outlined its commitment to increasing investment spending.

The group reported a 5.9% boost in revenue, reaching £1.63 billion, alongside a 14.4% improvement in adjusted pre-tax earnings, which climbed to £49.9 million for the period ending December 27, 2025.

Wickes Chief Executive David Wood stated that the solid advancement enables the company to target expansion of its store network from 230 to 300 locations.

The planned 70 new branches are expected to provide more than 2,000 positions throughout the United Kingdom.

According to Office for National Statistics data, British unemployment hit 5.2% last month, a five-year peak, meaning this announcement will be encouraging for jobseekers.

Wickes also noted a 9% rise in sales through its TradePro trade customer programme, with member numbers growing from 581,000 to 643,000.

David commented that the company had delivered another year of solid advancement toward its objectives, achieving growth driven by sales volumes across all business divisions as customers continued to respond positively to its offering.

He expressed gratitude to staff members for their ongoing dedication and effort.

In the retail sector, the company secured its highest-ever market share, with particularly robust performance in timber, tiling, flooring and paint products. The TradePro programme maintained its strong trajectory, expanding to 643,000 active members. The design and fitting division also performed well, having now recorded five successive quarters of growth in ordered sales.

Due to the favourable returns generated by its established store renovation and new outlet expansion approach, the company announced plans to intensify its investment for continued expansion. This elevates the target to establishing 300 stores across Britain, generating over 2,000 additional positions as the business brings its unique offering to fresh locations throughout the country.
