An individual was taken into custody during on-foot patrols in Chepstow as part of an investigation into Class A and B drug-related matters.

The operational activity was conducted by the Monmouthshire South neighbourhood policing unit across a weekend period.

During the patrols, officers detained a person on suspicion of having both Class A and B controlled substances with the intention of distribution, along with an offensive weapon.

The individual, aged 58, remains on conditional release while enquiries continue.

Investigations are also ongoing into a 34-year-old male regarding Class A drug possession.

A 40-year-old female received an out-of-court disposal in connection with possessing a Class B substance.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police stated that such preventative patrols form part of their continued efforts to maintain safety within local communities and prevent criminal conduct.

Police are urging members of the public who have any concerns or relevant information about criminal activity in their neighbourhood to get in touch with officers or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 for anonymous reporting.
