A summary of recent cases dealt with by magistrates has been published.

Susan Davies, residing at Hazel Walk in Caerleon, Newport, was ordered to pay £408 comprising a fine, costs and a surcharge after being found guilty of owning a motor vehicle lacking proper insurance cover.

Jason Lewis, aged 56 and from Oaklands Road in Sebastopol, Pontypool, received a six-month driving prohibition for travelling at 36mph where the limit was 30mph on the A4161 in Cardiff on April 6 last year. He was also ordered to pay £186 comprising a fine, costs and a surcharge.

Brogan Southway, 30, of Eureka Place in Ebbw Vale, was ordered to pay £398 comprising a fine, costs and a surcharge for operating a motor vehicle while not wearing a seatbelt.

Jack Davies, 32, from Trinity Court in Risca, was ordered to pay £306 comprising a fine, costs and a surcharge after admitting guilt to owning a motor vehicle without valid insurance.

Vernon Preen, 71, of Clos Lon Fawr in Beaufort, Ebbw Vale, was ordered to pay £385 comprising a fine, costs and a surcharge after pleading guilty to exceeding the speed limit in a 20mph area. His licence was marked with three penalty points.

Safaa Hussain, 21, from Chepstow Road in Newport, was ordered to pay £140 comprising a fine and a surcharge after admitting guilt to travelling at 38mph in a 30mph zone on Newport Road in Cardiff on April 24 last year. Her licence was marked with three penalty points.

Lee Tapper, 43, from Bryn Glas in Ebbw Vale, was ordered to pay £146 comprising a fine, costs and a surcharge after pleading guilty to exceeding the speed limit in a 30mph zone. His licence was marked with three penalty points.

Zakir Hussain Mukhtar, 46, from Eton Road in Newport, was ordered to pay £288 comprising a fine, costs and a surcharge after admitting guilt to refusing to provide driver identification details when requested. His licence was marked with six penalty points.
