Good evening and thanks for joining our live coverage.

Witnesses have told us that rail services at Newport Railway Station have stopped completely and officers are in attendance.

We will provide further information as it becomes available.

According to the Transport for Wales travel map, trains running between Cheltenham Spa and Newport are experiencing significant delays.

One witness told the Argus they were travelling on the Severn Tunnel Junction line heading to Cardiff but were forced to disembark at Newport and board a different service to continue their journey into the capital.

The same witness told the Argus that police were responding to an incident on a train.

We are seeking to verify this information.

We have reached out to British Transport Police for additional details.

We have also contacted Gwent Police for further information.

Gwent Police have confirmed that a 33-year-old man was detained on the train on suspicion of a burglary on Station Road in Caldicot at approximately 2.15pm on Thursday, March 26.

The full details of this story can be found here.
