Monmouthshire council has confirmed it is collaborating with Gwent Police following claims brought forward regarding an employee at King Henry VIII School.

In an earlier public communication, the council indicated it had become aware of claims brought forward regarding an employee at King Henry VIII and was handling the situation with the utmost seriousness, in conjunction with the educational institution, social services and law enforcement officers.

The specifics of the claims have not been disclosed publicly and additional information about the employee has not been provided. When approached by the South Wales Argus, a representative for Monmouthshire County Council stated they were unable to comment on any specific case.

Gwent Police informed the Argus that they understand Monmouthshire Council has released a statement advising that it is working closely with Gwent Police following allegations made against a member of staff in one of their schools, and they can confirm this is correct.

In the council’s earlier statement, parents and students who have worries regarding child protection were informed that this remains a priority for both the educational establishment and the local government body, and that all applicable protocols and guidelines will be adhered to going forward.
