Carmarthenshire County Council is offering complimentary Christmas trading opportunities for newly established and emerging enterprises across three towns in the county.

The initiative provides temporary retail space during the peak Christmas shopping season, allowing participants to experience trading in genuine market conditions.

The scheme targets entrepreneurs evaluating whether to become permanent traders at Carmarthenshire’s indoor or outdoor markets, as well as those seeking to launch ventures in town centre locations.

All available spaces are provided without charge and allocated in order of application receipt.

Applications must be submitted by Monday 23 November 2026.

In Carmarthen, as many as ten wooden festive cabins will operate at St Catherine’s Walk during three separate booking periods: 9 to 12 December, 16 to 19 December, and 20 to 23 December.

Sunday trading is optional during the final booking period.

Trading hours span from 10am until 4pm each day.

Llanelli will host six pop-up trading tables positioned at 8-10 Market Precinct, operating on identical dates and hours as the Carmarthen offering.

Ammanford Market presents four individual trading pitches reserved exclusively for new and aspiring traders on three consecutive Fridays: 4 December, 11 December, and 18 December, between 10am and 4pm.

Participants at this location must supply their own equipment, with pitches distributed upon arrival.

Cllr Carys Jones, Cabinet Member for Markets at Carmarthenshire County Council, commented that the complimentary festive trading opportunities enable emerging businesses to sample market trading, present their merchandise, and build connections with shoppers.

The council urged anyone contemplating business creation or developing a concept to seize this opportunity and explore the possibilities available through trading in Carmarthenshire.
