Cymru Women return to Llanelli for Albania World Cup play-off

Published on

A World Cup qualifying play-off between Wales and Albania has been scheduled for Parc y Scarlets in Llanelli.

The fixture forms part of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification pathway.

The encounter is set for Tuesday 13 October, with the action beginning at 7.15pm.

Llanelli will host the match following Cymru’s previous success at the venue earlier this year, when the side defeated Montenegro there during the group phase of the qualification campaign.

Carmarthenshire elected official Cllr Hazel Evans, who holds the regeneration brief, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming fixture.

She noted that the previous Cymru visit demonstrated the region’s capacity to stage high-profile sporting occasions.

The cabinet member emphasised that such events attract visitors to the area, display local facilities, and reinforce Carmarthenshire’s readiness to accommodate significant competitions.

She also highlighted the value of providing communities with opportunities to witness elite-level competition and support the advancement of women’s athletics.

Match tickets can be purchased through the Football Association of Wales.
