The German discount retailer Aldi has unveiled ambitious growth plans, including the establishment of another outlet in South Wales scheduled for 2027.
The company has confirmed it will launch 40 new supermarkets throughout the United Kingdom during the upcoming year as part of a £900 million capital investment initiative.
Jonathan Neale, who serves as managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, outlined the company’s commitment to continued development.
The supermarket chain is progressing toward its long-term objective of operating 1,500 stores across the country.
The planned new locations form part of the £900 million investment programme for 2027 and will enable the company to extend its presence to additional communities.

The Bridgend outlet would represent the town’s second Aldi location, with the existing store situated on Brackla Street.
At present, Aldi maintains a portfolio of 1,095 stores throughout the United Kingdom, with more than 30 of these operating within South Wales.
The retailer is simultaneously pursuing an aggressive schedule of openings before the conclusion of 2026, with 27 additional stores planned, among them a supermarket at East Retail Park in Maesglas, Newport.
This particular establishment is scheduled to commence operations on October 22.
The comprehensive list of stores scheduled for opening prior to the end of the year encompasses Bishop’s Cleeve in Gloucestershire, Malton in North Yorkshire, Orpington in Greater London, Ashford in Kent, Newport on the Isle of Wight, Basildon in Essex, Matlock in Derbyshire, Wimborne in Dorset, Stepney Green in London, Orrell in Greater Manchester, Dumbarton in West Dunbartonshire, Stourport-on-Severn in Worcestershire, Epsom in Surrey, Wellington in Somerset, Hattersley in Greater Manchester, Hanworth in Greater London, Willesden in London, Longbridge in the West Midlands, Waterlooville in Hampshire, Egremont in Cumbria, Lower Gornal in the West Midlands, Driffield in East Yorkshire, and Chatham in Kent.
The company has also announced plans for store relocations in Sudbury, Suffolk, Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands, and Wigan in Greater Manchester.
The broader expansion initiative is projected to generate thousands of employment opportunities and strengthen commercial prospects for British suppliers.
