Bridgend County Borough Council has announced free information sessions for residents considering a career in local politics.
The events will take place ahead of the May 2027 local government elections.
Two prospective candidate sessions have been scheduled for Tuesday 13 October and Wednesday 14 October, running from 6pm to 8pm.
The programmes aim to outline the responsibilities of a councillor, the operations of the local authority, and the process for standing as a candidate in elections.
Council Leader John Spanswick commented that the sessions would suit anyone contemplating a move into elected office.
He explained that eligibility requires being at least 18 years old, being registered to vote, and having resided, worked, or owned property within the county borough for a minimum of 12 months.
He encouraged those with a strong interest in their community, a desire to implement positive changes, and the capacity to make difficult decisions to attend, stating that the events would provide valuable understanding of the role and the steps required to become a candidate.
Attendance is limited and prior reservation is necessary.
