Transport for Wales has issued an alert that a blaze at a premises close to the railway line in Ystrad Mynach has caused delays and cancellations to rail services in the vicinity.

⚠️ UPDATE: Because of a fire at a property adjacent to the railway at Ystrad Mynach, services may experience delays of approximately 10 minutes or be cancelled at Ystrad Mynach. Rail services are anticipated to be disrupted until 21:00.

Gwent Police have confirmed that emergency services are in attendance at the location.

Gwent Police have requested that local residents keep all doors and windows securely closed.

Social media posts from witnesses and accompanying photographs indicate that Nancy’s Café on Nelson Road is ablaze.

According to witnesses, trains are bypassing Ystrad Mynach because of the situation, continuing directly to Hengoed and Llanbradach.

Nelson Road has been closed as a result of the fire.

Local residents report that vehicle traffic is queued through Ystrad Mynach and extending toward Nelson.

The AA advises that the A472 is blocked in both directions between Tredomen Park and Lewis Street because of the fire.

Transport for Wales indicates that train services through Ystrad Mynach are now running on schedule.

Witnesses on social media report that Nelson Road has reopened to traffic.
