The Ty Gwyn holiday park in Abergele has secured a Wales in Bloom Gold Award for a second successive year.
The accolade was presented during a ceremony in Talgarth, Powys, where the North Wales site was recognised for its landscaping and environmental work.
Ty Gwyn staff and caravan owners jointly contributed to the award entry.
The submission included wildflower areas, along with butterfly, bird and bug houses.
New flower beds had also been established, including a Pyramid bed, while some caravan owners grew sunflowers that featured in the park’s entry.
A sunflower competition was among the initiatives held at the site.
Further improvements included the planting of new trees throughout the holiday park and the creation of a herb patch for customers of the on-site restaurant, The Peacock Lounge.
The award submission also detailed Ty Gwyn’s sustainability programme.
A 35kW solar array installed on the park’s outbuildings supplies renewable energy to customers, and LED lighting has been introduced to reduce energy use.
The site has also added two electric vehicle charging points, each able to provide up to 22kW for two cars.
Ty Gwyn operates as a third-generation family business and is regarded as one of the oldest holiday parks in the UK.
Director Angharad Owen said the Gold Award reflected the work of the park’s team and the support received from caravan owners.
She also said the aim was to maintain attractive surroundings for the Ty Gwyn community while continuing to introduce sustainability initiatives across the site.
