A Pilates studio in Usk has generated £10,915.07 for St David’s Hospice Care through its first 24-hour Reformerthon, more than twice the original £5,000 fundraising target.
PT Pilates staged 24 Reformer Pilates classes over a continuous 24-hour period, beginning at 8am on September 12 and ending at 8am the following day.
All 144 available class places were taken.
The programme included themed sessions during the early hours, with a pyjama party held at 1am and a neon-themed class at 2am.
Supporters also dressed as cows and foxes while collecting donations in pubs near the studio.
Participants and instructors received support throughout the event.
Clients brought cocktails for instructors at 8pm and provided homemade snacks during the night, alongside buttered toast at 6am.
A separate £10 Challenge required participants to hold a £10 note between their feet while completing a Pilates movement and raised £1,100.
Jane Gambarini, founder of PT Pilates, said the event had brought the community together, with support coming from clients, local businesses and people who visited the studio to make donations.
She added that the fundraising effort continued throughout the night.
Gambarini later attended the St David’s Hospice Care AGM, where she heard accounts of the charity’s work and the effect of its care on patients and families.
She said hearing these experiences highlighted the significance of the funds raised by everyone involved in the Reformerthon.
Gambarini and colleague Lindsey subsequently presented the £10,915.07 cheque at the PT Pilates studio on Tuesday, October 6.
Clients who had taken part in the fundraiser attended the presentation.
