A Tibetan Buddhist monk shared teachings on peace and compassion during a visit to Newport.
Geshe Lama Ahbay Tulku Rinpoche, a respected figure within the Dalai Lama’s tradition, spent four days in Rhiwderin Village.
Lisa Pryce-Jones and David Muzzlewhite, who are therapists and Reiki master teachers, hosted the monk as a guest in their home and community.
He provided individual spiritual healing sessions and led an evening session at Rhiwderin Village Hall.
His address covered inner peace, the changing nature of life, and releasing attachment.
The gathering also included traditional Tibetan chanting and a sound bath.
Ms Pryce-Jones described hosting Ahbay Rinpoche in their home and community for a second time that year as a privilege.
She said his teachings show how responding to continual change with greater compassion and acceptance can bring increased inner peace.
The messages were not presented as being limited to Buddhists; kindness, compassion and peaceful living were identified as benefits available to everyone.
The monk also called at Vittorio’s Italian restaurant in Newport before visiting The Priory Hotel and Restaurant in Caerleon.
During the latter visit, he walked around the grounds of the historic former monastery.
Ahbay Rinpoche presented the hosts with a Green Tara scroll symbolising compassion and protection.
