Road traffic controls in St Catherine’s Street, Carmarthen, are set to continue until 21 December 2026 as construction work on the Atriwm redevelopment enters its final stages.

The extended measures are intended to allow the project to be completed ahead of its planned opening early next year.

Atriwm is being created from the former Debenhams premises in Carmarthen town centre.

Once complete, the building will operate as a multi-purpose facility serving residents, local businesses and visitors.

Carmarthenshire County Council is leading the scheme, with the delivery programme involving Hywel Dda University Health Board and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

The partnership is bringing healthcare, education, public services, leisure and activities for all ages together within the same building.

Community medical facilities will also form part of the development.

According to Carmarthenshire County Council, the combination of services planned for Atriwm will be the first of its kind in Wales.
