A fresh coffee establishment has launched in Croesyceiliog following a period of successful evaluation.
The venue began trading at Woodland Road Community Hwb on Thursday, October 1, providing residents with a new destination for hot and cold refreshments.
Alongside traditional coffee options, the menu features iced varieties, additional cold beverages and cakes.
The launch marks the transition from an initial pilot programme that assessed community appetite for such a facility.
Councillor Jo Gauden assisted in securing a members’ grant that made the trial phase possible.
Trading occurs between 8am and 3pm on weekdays, though the schedule may be subject to revision depending on customer uptake.
The venue operates from within Woodland Road Community Hwb, which houses registered charity Hwb Torfaen.
The charitable organisation delivers activities, volunteer placements, training schemes and support services for local residents.
A core objective involves offering people of all ages a welcoming environment to socialise, seek assistance and engage with community initiatives.
In 2021, more than 1,000 individuals contributed feedback regarding the centre’s development strategy.
Five principal themes emerged from that engagement: care for elderly residents, expansion of volunteering roles, development of healthier communities, improved prospects for families and young people, and achievement of financial and ecological durability.
The centre additionally backs local ventures including food sharing schemes, which currently require volunteer assistance.
Updates regarding the café and any alterations to its operating times appear on the centre’s online channels.
