Mental Elf Festive Fun Run returns to Newport on December 6

Published on

A seasonal charity run is returning to Newport this December.

The event, organised by Mind in Gwent, is scheduled for Sunday, December 6, building on the achievements of the previous year’s gathering.

The 5-kilometre challenge aims to collect donations for mental health services in the area.

Supporters are welcome to join the procession from The Riverfront on Kingsway, dressed in festive elf attire, regardless of whether they prefer walking, gentle jogging, or running.

The initiative seeks to raise awareness about mental health and emotional wellbeing while offering participants an opportunity to come together in a celebratory atmosphere.

The course has been designed to accommodate runners of varying fitness levels and ages, featuring a surfaced path that remains predominantly level throughout.

Mind in Gwent delivers mental health services across Newport, Monmouthshire, Torfaen, and Blaenau Gwent.

The organisation emphasises the documented benefits that exercise, fresh air, and social interaction can provide for psychological wellness.

Participants will pass notable local features and scenic riverside vistas during the route, enhancing the community-focused atmosphere of the occasion.

Those aged under 16 require adult supervision to take part.

The fundraiser serves the dual purpose of strengthening community bonds whilst generating essential income for regional mental health provision.

Mind in Gwent functions as an independent community-based mental health organisation with administrative bases in Newport, Abergavenny, Pontypool, and Brynmawr.

Although affiliated with the Local Mind Associations network throughout England and Wales, the group maintains operational independence from the national Mind charity, bearing sole responsibility for its own fundraising activities, management, and service delivery.
