A venue in Newport is set to stage an event examining the connection between religious belief and scientific inquiry.
St.
Mark’s Gold Tops will welcome attendees on Monday 19th October beginning at 7.30pm, with light refreshments served from 7pm onwards.
The gathering is open to everyone and carries no admission fee.
Rev’d Andrew Lightbown, who serves as Area Dean for the Heart of Newport Ministry Area, stated that the congregation aims to investigate how Christian belief intersects with various academic and professional fields.
He noted that during the summer months, the establishment accommodated a Faith in Politics forum which attracted significant participation, and this new initiative represents a natural progression in examining how faith relates to scientific understanding.
The discussion will address whether religious conviction and scientific methodology exist in opposition to one another or instead provide complementary perspectives.
It has been confirmed that Archbishop Cherry Vann will engage in dialogue with Dr Suter-Jones during the proceedings.
Plans have also been outlined for additional events under the Faith In banner throughout 2027, with future topics encompassing sport and the natural world.
