The South Wales Argus archival collection has unveiled a series of images capturing moments from mid-October 2006, providing a window into community life across the region two decades ago.

The collection spans the period from October 12 to October 15 of that year, featuring individuals from various walks of life including athletes, schoolchildren, charity supporters and former colleagues reconnecting after years apart.

A photograph distributed by International Pairs and Visit Scotland documented Welsh golfers Neil White and Paul Johnston, both members of Llanwern Golf Club, proudly holding the International Pairs Trophy.

The pair accumulated 77 Stableford points during the final round held at Fairmont St Andrews, securing their status as the 2006 International Pairs UK Champions.

The image was captured on October 11 and distributed by the Press Association on October 13, with Alan Richardson credited as the photographer.

Former sprinter Jamie Baulch appeared in imagery from October 2006 taken for a broadcast on Sky television.

At Cwmfelinfach Primary School, four students were documented facing difficulties with transportation arrangements.

Amy Small, Stephany Davies, Elizabeth Davies and Louise Davies were shown to be missing the school’s breakfast club because their bus service from Wattsville arrived after the programme had concluded.

The photograph was taken on October 14.

Students at St Joseph’s participated in activities honouring their multicultural backgrounds.

Among those pictured were ten-year-old Lili Dunn with Irish heritage, nine-year-old Kristina Strigotskaya whose roots lie in Russia, seven-year-old Daniel DiFranco representing Italy, eight-year-old Tyler Williams connected to Jamaica, eight-year-old Kelechi Chigbo with Nigerian ancestry, six-year-old Zuzanna Kalek from Poland and six-year-old Tamara Mruzova whose family comes from Slovakia.

Harris had transitioned to work as a motivational speaker by that point.

A fundraising kickathon took place at Newport Black Belt Academy on October 14, 2006, benefiting the High Dependency Unit at Royal Gwent Hospital.

Those taking part included Jay Robinson, Jasmine Williams, Jack Jones, Joshua Beecham and Macauley Collins, alongside Mayor Miqdad Al-Nuami.
