Over 190 volunteers were honoured for their work supporting communities throughout Torfaen at an annual celebration of civic contribution.
The Torfaen Community and Volunteer Awards ceremony was conducted by the Torfaen Voluntary Alliance at the Parkway Hotel in Cwmbran.
The event featured eleven award categories, including two High Sheriff of Gwent Awards.
Now in its sixth edition, the programme acknowledges individuals, groups and organisations that assist others and reinforce local communities.
Cwmbran RFC received the Heart of the Community Award for its outreach to more than 300 children through Tiny Crows, Mini and Junior rugby programmes.
Volunteers also serve hot meals on Sundays, collaborate with nearby schools, assist community organisations and operate a warm hub facility.
James Rawbone from the club accepted the recognition and stated that while fortunate to collect the prize, the acknowledgment belonged to every volunteer who freely contributes their time to sustain the club and support the wider community.
He explained that whether coaches are working with children, preparing meals, assisting veterans or helping someone experiencing isolation, their input extends well beyond rugby activities.
Nathan Edmunds was named Adult Volunteer of the Year for his involvement across health, charity, sport and community sectors.
He offers companionship to individuals living with dementia at Cwmbran House Care Home, has founded a gardening club and backs various charitable organisations through fundraising and ambassador responsibilities.
Edmunds expressed that winning the award was a particularly proud and meaningful moment.
He noted that volunteering provides significant rewards and that sharing the evening with so many inspiring volunteers was a privilege.
He also paid tribute to the remarkable volunteers throughout Torfaen who donate their time to aid their communities and create genuine impact.
Thirteen-year-old Darla Pearce was presented with the Young Volunteer of the Year Award for coaching Blaenavon’s youngest rugby participants and assisting with junior netball.
Pearce supports younger children in developing abilities and self-assurance and participates in charitable collections, including a 24-hour Relay for Life event.
Aimi Morris, Chief Executive Officer at Torfaen Voluntary Alliance, stated that the awards recognised the generosity and dedication of Torfaen residents who freely give their time for community benefit.
She noted that the event was made possible through sponsorship by numerous local partners and businesses.
Morris added that every nominee deserved to feel proud, as someone had noticed the difference they made and wished to have that recognised.
