The discount retailer Aldi has announced plans to establish three additional outlets in South Wales, with the initial launch scheduled within the next few days.
The new establishments form part of a substantial £1.6 billion investment initiative the company is implementing across the United Kingdom.
Through this programme, Aldi seeks to achieve its target of operating 1,500 stores nationally, building upon its current network of 1,095 locations.
Three new Aldi establishments are slated to open in South Wales over the coming months as part of this ongoing expansion strategy.
In Newport, the inaugural new supermarket will commence operations on October 22 at the East Retail Park situated in the Maesglas area.
This will represent the fourth outlet in the city, joining current branches in Risca, Spytty Road, and Albany Street.
Cardiff is also slated to receive a new establishment, with local authority planning consent granted for a facility in the Wern Fawr district of Old St Mellons.
This will become the eighth branch within the Welsh capital.
Aldi has further disclosed that Bridgend has been selected among the initial ten locations for new supermarket development in 2027.
The town currently hosts one existing outlet on Brackla Street, and this new branch will serve as its second store.
The retailer is proceeding according to schedule to inaugurate 27 additional stores by the conclusion of 2026, with preparations already underway for a further 40 openings throughout 2027.
The growth strategy is projected to generate numerous employment positions and expand commercial possibilities for British producers.
Aldi inaugurated a fresh outlet in Port Talbot on September 17, located at Burrows Yard, occupying the premises of its former Commercial Road branch.
The company currently operates more than 30 stores throughout South Wales, and these forthcoming openings reflect sustained development within the region.
