A 38-year-old man will be sentenced after entering guilty pleas to charges of outraging public decency and assaulting two officers during the course of their duties.

Tariq Edwards, whose address was listed as Channel View in Pontymister, Risca, faced the charges at Newport Magistrates’ Court.

The offences occurred in Newport on March 29.

District Judge Alison Curran ordered a comprehensive pre-sentence report before proceeding to sentencing.

Edwards was granted conditional bail pending the preparation of the report and his next court appearance.

The defendant is scheduled to appear again on October 23 for the sentencing hearing.

As conditions of his bail, Edwards is prohibited from entering Cambrian Road in Newport and must refrain from appearing under the influence of alcohol in the city centre area.
