The survey examined unleaded prices at ten different fuel retailers.
Two Asda outlets were identified as offering the lowest unleaded cost at 158.7p per litre, both located in the Pillgwenlly Automat and Newport town centre.
Three additional stations tied for the third-lowest price point, with Tesco Spytty, Tesco Newport Gwent Extra, and Sainsburys Newport each charging 158.9p per litre.
A pair of Esso-branded stations on Chepstow Road shared the next tier, with both the MFG Newport and Newport Express sites charging 159.9p per litre.
Morrisons in Rogerstone matched this price.
The most expensive unleaded options recorded were Asda Express Newport and Gulf at Hillcroft Garage on Chepstow Road, both at 161.9p per litre.
For diesel motorists, the pricing pattern differed slightly.
Asda Pillgwenlly Automat and Asda Newport again tied for the lowest diesel rate at 176.7p per litre.
Tesco Newport Spytty and Tesco Newport Gwent Extra followed at 176.9p per litre.
Sainsburys Newport charged 178.9p per litre for diesel.
The higher diesel prices appeared at several Esso and independent locations.
Esso Newport Express, Morrisons Rogerstone, Asda Express Newport, and Gulf Hillcroft Garage all charged between 181.9p and 182.9p per litre.
The highest recorded diesel price was 183.9p per litre at Esso Chepstow Road under the MFG Newport branding.
