Heating firm closure triggers formal process many never see

A heating and plumbing firm established in Newport has entered voluntary liquidation after its director chose to shut down the company.

NGT Heating & Plumbing Limited traded from 21 Gold Tops, according to Companies House records. The formal winding-up procedure commenced on June 17, 2026, following director Nathan Thomas’s signature on resolutions to place the business into liquidation and appoint an insolvency specialist.

Anthony Broom, operating from Cardiff through AJB Restructuring and Insolvency Limited, has been appointed as liquidator and will now oversee the company’s closure.

Mr Broom will assume management of the company’s remaining assets, pursue outstanding payments, and calculate what can be distributed to creditors.

On July 1, the registered office was relocated to c/o AJB Restructuring and Insolvency Limited at Regus in Cardiff as Mr Broom began managing the remaining assets.

Voluntary liquidation is a standard pathway for companies that can no longer service their debts or are deemed no longer viable.

This enables the director to wind up the company systematically rather than awaiting a court-mandated closure.

Creditors have until July 24, 2026 to file claims for amounts owed.

Supporting documentation such as invoices or agreements may be necessary to substantiate claims.

The liquidator will evaluate all submissions to establish what portion can be distributed to each creditor.

Information from public notices indicated that this procedure aims to ensure fair treatment of all creditors under insolvency regulations.

No evidence of improper conduct or wrongdoing has emerged.

The motives behind the company’s closure have not been revealed at this time.

In voluntary liquidations, it is typical for available funds to be insufficient to settle every creditor completely.

Ultimate distributions will depend on the value realised from the company’s assets.

NGT Heating & Plumbing operated within the heating and plumbing sector from professional offices at Gold Tops, a commercial area in Newport city centre that houses law firms, accountants, and various service businesses.

The company’s closure through voluntary liquidation represents a managed process rather than an abrupt, court-ordered dissolution.

The director opted to wind up the business and instructed a liquidator to handle its affairs and address outstanding liabilities to the extent possible.

The liquidator’s responsibilities include:

Assuming control of the company’s accounts and assets.

Recovering any sums owed to the company.

Establishing what can be disbursed to creditors.

Liaising with those owed funds.

Anthony Broom and his firm AJB Restructuring and Insolvency will supervise this procedure.

Creditors and other relevant parties should contact the liquidator for queries or assistance with submitting a claim.

Mr Broom can be contacted by email at anthony.broom@ajbriltd.com.

The voluntary liquidation framework enables the company to conclude operations in an orderly fashion, with formal procedures implemented to finalise its affairs and discharge debts as far as existing assets permit.

Further announcements may follow from the liquidator once creditor claims have been examined and asset recovery is underway.

This will encompass details regarding amounts outstanding, the rationale for closure if disclosed, and anticipated returns to those owed money by the business.
