Massive 10lb+ spring salmon caught on River Usk

Published on

A salmon weighing between ten and twelve pounds has been caught on the River Usk.

The springer was recorded on March 6 by Mantas Mileris from the Wood Stream section of the Chainbridge beat, situated several miles upstream from Usk.

The fish was hooked on a Green and Black Conehead pattern.

In his March report for the Wye and Usk Foundation, Oliver Burch noted that Chainbridge has yielded multiple very early fish over the years. He recalled that Barry landed an excellent fish exceeding twenty pounds from the Rock Pool on the first day of the season, shortly after acquiring the fishing rights.
