Newport Chronicle: An 85-year-old man has been taken to hospital after a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Alma Street, Abertillery.

An 85-year-old man has been taken to hospital after a crash involving a car and a pedestrian in Abertillery. Gwent Police said officers were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Alma Street at around 11am on Thursday, April 23. The Welsh Ambulance Service also attended. The collision involved a pedestrian and a car and the pensioner was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The road was closed between Gladstone Street and Foundry Bridge while emergency services worked at the scene, with diversions in place and congestion reported in the area.
