Overnight bridge closure in Newport from 8pm to 6am

Published on

Motorists have been advised to anticipate delays on major highways as overnight closures are scheduled.

The M48 westbound carriageway will be shut from junction one (Aust) through to junction two (Newhouse) between the hours of 8pm and 6am for maintenance purposes, with alternative routes marked out, Traffic Wales has stated.

This work is part of a continuing programme running from April 13 through April 15.

Additionally, the M4 westbound on-ramp at junction 24 (Coldra) located in Gwent will also be blocked from 8pm to 6am for maintenance operations.

However, no complete westbound lane closures are expected along the M4 main carriageway passing through Newport or Gwent this evening.

National Highways has indicated that neither of the Severn Bridges will be fully closed during this week.

Both the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge and the M48 Severn Bridge will stay accessible to traffic, aside from the overnight closures mentioned by Traffic Wales.
