Man charged with encouraging minors to have sex

Steven Welch, 43, residing at Llwyn Derwen in Cwmfelinfach, entered a plea of not guilty to charges accusing him of encouraging two minors to take part in sexual acts.

The defendant has rejected assertions of misconduct from the crown, which allegedly took place throughout the period spanning May 31, 2024 through August 1, 2024.

Proceedings are scheduled to begin on February 22, 2027, with an estimated duration of five days.

Following his appearance before Judge Eugene Egan at Cardiff Crown Court, the accused was released on conditional bail.

Hashim Salmman acted as counsel for the defendant, while Martha Smith-Higgins represented the prosecution.
