Man charged with drug offences after police find cocaine and cash

A suspected narcotics trafficker has been charged with possessing 775 grams of cocaine along with more than £29,000 in currency.

James Roe faced Newport Magistrates’ Court after being accused of involvement in cocaine distribution, holding the class A drug with the intention to supply, and owning criminal proceeds totalling £29,956.20 in cash.

He additionally faces charges of assaulting a police officer carrying out official duties and physically assaulting an emergency responder.

The accusations cover the period from January 1 through April 27.

The case has been referred to the crown court where Roe is scheduled to appear on May 29.

The 42-year-old, residing at Greenfield Street in Bargoed, Caerphilly, was ordered to remain in custody pending further proceedings.
