Summary of cases heard at magistrates’ court.

Kirsty Oak, 42, from Broadwood Close, Newport admitted drink driving and received a 13-month driving ban. Police found 42 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath on April 10. She was ordered to pay £253 comprising fine, costs and surcharge.

Alexander Connors, 34, of Leigh Road, Trevethin, Pontypool was banned from driving for 17 months after pleading guilty to driving while over the alcohol limit. Breath tests showed 73 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres on April 6 on a road linking Llanfechra Way to the Crow’s Nest pub car park in Cwmbran. He must pay £925 in total.

Elizabeth Smith, residing in Stockton Close, Newport, was fined £408 with costs and surcharge for owning a vehicle lacking proper insurance cover.

Graham Skyrme, 57, from Abbey Road, Cwmbran received a 12-month community order and a three-year driving ban after admitting drug driving. Tests revealed cocaine in his blood on the A4042 on October 16 last year. He must complete 40 hours of unpaid work, undertake a 10-day rehabilitation activity requirement, and pay £114 surcharge plus £85 costs.

Joe Dunlop, 34, of Snatchwood Road, Pontnewynydd, Pontypool was ordered to pay £185 in fines and costs for being drunk and causing a disturbance in Newport on April 9.

Anthony Evans, 29, from Pennant Street, Ebbw Vale was disqualified for six months after using a vehicle without insurance on Cwm Road on November 18 last year. He must pay £298.

Sean Kearns, 39, from Lower Ty Gwyn Road, Garndiffaith, Pontypool was fined £1,044 with costs and surcharge for driving uninsured. Six penalty points were added to his licence.

Elwyn Gleed, of Clist Road, Bettws, Newport was ordered to pay £408 for keeping an uninsured vehicle.

Nathan Price, 52, from Edward Street, Pengam, Blackwood was fined £253 after admitting possessing 14.3g of heroin in Bargoed on March 17.
