Motorists warned of disruption on roads this bank holiday

Bank holiday traffic is likely to be heavier due to football-related journeys.

The motoring organisation expects milder conditions to tempt families and supporters onto the roads for seaside outings and matches, with extended trips anticipated as supporters travel throughout Britain.

English Football League followers will be driving to matches for the final set of fixtures, with some undertaking journeys exceeding 500 miles in total.

Lee Morley, an AA patrol specialist, explained that bank holiday trips frequently represent the first substantial distance many vehicles have covered in some time.

Identifying an issue in the driveway proves far preferable to discovering one on the motorway hard shoulder.

The organisation noted that a mix of holiday excursions, day outings, away matches, and changeable conditions makes vehicle inspections vital.

Their FLOWER guide instructs motorists to examine fuel, lights, oil, water, electrics, and tyres prior to setting off.

The AA also suggests plotting journeys ahead of time, monitoring real-time traffic information, and allocating additional time for trips.
