Almost £280,000 in grants has been allocated to seven road safety initiatives across the UK.
The Road Safety Trust is distributing the funding through its Autumn 2025 Small Grants programme.
The successful projects focus on research and hands-on measures designed to prevent road deaths.
Ruth Purdie OBE, the organisation’s chief executive, observed that this funding cycle attracted exceptional interest with applications spanning diverse topics and applicant groups.
She noted that casualties from road collisions continue to represent a serious problem, with numerous road safety challenges still requiring attention.
She offered congratulations to all applicants whose proposals were approved and expressed anticipation for seeing how these ventures would improve conditions for road users.
The funded work includes examinations of compliance with 20mph zone limits, assistance for police officers who drive under emergency conditions, virtual reality tools for road safety instruction, and measures addressing motorcyclist protection.
Eighty-eight initial applications were received, surpassing any previous total.
The trust has additionally launched its Large Grants programme, offering individual awards of up to £200,000 from an overall budget of £750,000.
