Residents Asked for Views on Proposed Taxi Fare Modifications

Caerphilly County Borough Council is inviting public feedback on two options for revising the hackney carriage tariff, with the previous adjustment occurring in 2022.

The hackney carriage tariff represents the maximum charge permitted for journeys in licensed taxi vehicles and will not alter during the consultation period.

Lee Morgan, the council’s licensing manager, explained that the objective is to ensure any taxi fare decision achieves a fair balance between the needs of drivers, passengers, and local businesses.

The consultation provides an important opportunity for all stakeholders to express their views before any alterations are considered.

Responses from taxi operators, local residents, businesses, and the wider community are encouraged.

The feedback collected will inform whether revisions should be made to the council’s Hackney Carriage Tariff.

Members of the public can take part by completing an online survey through the council’s website.

Paper copies of the survey can also be obtained by contacting the licensing department by phone or email.

Once the consultation period concludes, the council will carefully consider all responses before preparing a report for the Taxi and General Licensing Committee, which will make the final determination on the proposals.

The existing hackney carriage fare structure is available to view on the Caerphilly County Borough Council website.

Those wishing to receive a paper copy of the questionnaire can obtain one by emailing Morgal16@caerphilly.gov.uk or telephoning 01443 866750.
